Shure Says White Space Devices "Not Ready For Prime Time" - FCC Report States Prototype Devices Interfere With TV And Wireless Microphones
(August 1, 2007) NILES, IL - Shure Incorporated applauded the release of test results that evaluated the performance of proposed unlicensed devices that would operate in the "white spaces" of the TV broadcast spectrum. The FCC's Office of Engineering and Technology released the results of the testing.

Shure Praises New “White Spaces” Legislation To Protect Wireless Microphone Systems From Interference
(March 6, 2007) Niles, IL - Sandy LaMantia, President and CEO of Shure Incorporated, today praised Representative Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) for introducing H.R. 1320, The Interference Protection for Existing Television Band Devices Act of 2007. The legislation allows fixed, unlicensed device use of the “white spaces” between broadcast television channels (between 54 MHz and 698 MHz) after the national transition to digital television broadcasting in February 2009. It also requires unlicensed device manufacturers to demonstrate that their device will not interfere with existing “white spaces” products, including wireless microphone systems. (more)

PAMA "White Spaces" Filing
(February 23, 2007) The Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance(PAMA), acting on behalf of its members, the leading manufacturers of pro audio gear and microphone products, has filed an detailed comments document to the FCC on the "White Spaces" Docket 04-186.DOC.
Our organization believes strongly that the FCC must be allowed the time to fully test and then implement a policy that restricts harmful interference from consumer devices without disrupting the public and broadcast events that today's wireless products serve. The public interest must be served by both sides of this white spaces issue. Our members companies are leaders in technology and encourage the US and its legislators to move forward in exploring new broadband technologies. However, on this wireless issue, we feel the FCC must thoroughly and then take the lead in making recommendations that will result in better utilization of the bandwidth while protecting the airspace currently utilized by the wireless community served by professional wireless audio manufacturers.

Outreach Effort On The "White Spaces" Issue

A white paper was prepared by the Washington, DC legal firm that has worked with PAMA, Shure and other industry leaders.  This document presents overview's to Congress and FCC regarding the importance of the pro audio industry and its need for protection when moving ahead on this issue.  The reply filing period expires at the end of February.  Please review the final page of this paper to find out how you or your company can file comments. Wireless Leaders Go To Washington, Defend RF Space
(February 2, 2007) Washington, DC - For three straight days last week, representatives from Shure Incorporated, the Grand Ole Opry, the Professional Audio Manufacturer's Alliance (PAMA), the Sports Video Group (SVG), PRG Audio, Springboard Productions, Masque Sound, and Sound Associates, Inc. among others, met with U.S. Senators, members of the House of Representatives, and Commissioners and staff at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). They emphasized that professional audio productions face significant interference risk from the introduction of unlicensed devices in television broadcast bands unless FCC rules are developed that fully protect wireless microphone systems.

(January 22, 2007) Costa Mesa, CA - Key changes will be made in senior management at QSC effective today, when Joe Pham begins serving as the company's Chief Operating Officer. As the new COO, Pham steps up to an office long occupied by QSC's John Andrews, who will move to jointly share the duties of CEO with brother Barry Andrews. Currently serving QSC in a dual capacity as CEO and Senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Barry Andrews will in turn relinquish all sales and marketing responsibilities, and the position of Senior VP of Sales and Marketing will be effectively eliminated. (January 3, 2007) Northridge, CA - Underscoring the importance of system solutions to its growth strategy, the Harman Pro Group today announced the creation of a new strategic marketing position focused on integrated systems and coordinated multi-brand communications. According to Blake Augsburger, President of Harman Pro Group, industry veteran Michael MacDonald has rejoined the company to assume the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Marketing, based at the Group's Northridge, California headquarters.
